Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal on Friday said that India and European Union (EU) are discussing a win-win and a mutually beneficial Free Trade Agreement (FTA).
"We are living in times full of uncertainty and volatility, but it is such times that the true strength of the nation and industry come to fore. The best comes out from all of us in these trying times. We went through COVID and when we look back we realise the current time is nothing compared to what we through during COVID," Goyal said,
"The nation and each one of you have overcome COVID with resilience so I think such times will come and go but our long term ability to withstand shocks will remain with us. I have no doubt in my mind times will get better," he added.
Goyal said that India and EU are exploring possibilities that will hold good potential for the businesses to grow and to encourage innovation.
"India, EU teams are engaged in intense negotiations for a FTA. Every agreement has some give and take to make it a balanced one, there can never be a perfect situation. And we should not make perfect an enemy of the good. I assure you the possibilities we are trying to unlock you will find the arrangements between India, EU attractive, exciting and holding good potential for businesses to grow and collaborate, and encouraging innovation," he said.
He further said that with this FTA, EU will benefit from India's growth story and India will benefit from EU's technology and innovation
