The demographics of Wazirpur

In 2020, Wazirpur legislative constituency had a total of 1,81,241 electors, but only 1,08,911 were eligible to vote, while in 2015, it had a total of 1,63,100 voters out of which only 1,11,585 voters were eligible, according to the Election Commission.

In 2015, the total number of voters in the Rohini constituency was 174600. Out of this, 91328 voters were male, 83262 were females.

Wazirpur Constituency 2015 and 2020 Winners

In the 2020 Assembly Elections, AAP’s Rajesh Gupta won the seat with a impressive margin of 11,690 votes. Gupta garnered 57,331 votes with a vote share of 52.64 % and defeated Dr Mahender Nagpal from BJP who received 45,641 votes (41.91 %).

In the 2015 Assembly Elections, Rajesh Gupta from AAP won the seat and was polled 61,208 votes with a vote share of 54.85%. BJP candidate Dr Mahander Nagpal got 39,164 votes (35.10 %) and was the runner-up.

In the upcoming elections, the Wazirpur seat is all set to witness an intense three-way contest. The Aam Aadmi Party has given the ticket to Rajesh Gupta who will be fighting to secure his seat for the third consecutive time against BJP’s Poonam Sharma. The Congress has fielded Ragini Nayak from the Wazirpur seat.

The Wazirpur constituency in Delhi voted on February 5. The results will be declared on February 8, along with the other 69 constituencies in Delhi.
