The Indian Navy's indigenous guided missile destroyer INS Surat on Thursday successfully fired a surface-to-air missile against a sea skimming target in the Arabian Sea. The precision strike exercise comes just two days after the deadly Pahalgam attack in Jammu and Kashmir left 26 people, mostly tourists, dead.

The Navy had fired an MRSAM (Medium Range Surface-to-Air Missile) against the target.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had commissioned INS Surat, a frontline naval combatant, in January 2025 at the Naval Dockyard in Mumbai.
INS Surat, the fourth and final ship of the P15B Guided Missile Destroyer Project, ranks among the largest and most sophisticated destroyers in the world.
It has an indigenous content of 75 per cent and is equipped with state-of-the-art weapon-sensor packages and advanced network-centric capabilities.
