Overnight downpour in Delhi-NCR led to waterlogging in many parts early on Raksha Bandhan morning, with more showers predicted during the day.
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a red alert early on Saturday morning for heavy rain with lightning and thunderstorms for parts of north, west, south, southeast, and Central Delhi. However, it was later downgraded to yellow alert, advising people to be aware.
Videos shared across social media platform showed waterlogging in several key areas of the national capital such as Vasant Kunj, RK Puram, Connaught Place, ITO, and many other regions. Similar situation was witnessed in many parts of Noida and Gurugram as well, with residents sharing videos of the same.

Slow vehicular movement and congestion were witnessed in most parts of Delhi-NCR following the torrential downpour.

The downpour began around 11 pm on Friday, sweeping through several parts of Delhi-NCR, including Panchkuian Marg, Mathura Road, Shastri Bhawan, RK Puram, Moti Bagh, and Kidwai Nagar.

Meanwhile, the Yamuna in Delhi reached the mark of 204.40 metre at 9 am at the Old Railway Bridge, nearing the warning level of 204.50-metre
The situation is being monitored and all the concerned agencies have been asked to take precautionary measures to handle with flood like situation, officials told PTI.
"The reason for the increase in level is mostly due to the high amount of water released from the Wazirabad and Hathnikund barrage every hour," an official from the central flood room said.

The increase in level is likely due to rainfall in the upper catchment areas of Haryana and Uttarakhand, he added.
