Women workers of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) women wing staged a protest in the capital on Sunday against the India-Pakistan 2025 Asia Cup cricket match, breaking televisions and urging people to boycott the game.

AAP protested against the match in Delhi on Sunday. AAP Delhi unit president Saurabh Bharadwaj said, “The BJP government brings up Pakistan at the drop of a hat and lectures other governments on matters concerning Pakistan. When the entire country was seething with anger after the terror attack in Pahalgam which caused the Sindoor of 26 mothers and sisters to be wiped away and the army launched Operation Sindoor, they could have taken back PoK but at that time Modi ji took a U-turn.”

He added, “Now a match is being played with Pakistan and billions of rupees have been bet on it. BJP leaders and workers are hiding. The entire country is opposing this match despite this, the match is being played. After the Pahalgam terrorist attack, Modi ji had said that hot vermilion flows in his veins but it appears that today it has cooled down. Today our mothers and sisters have come with vermilion and the power of this vermilion will be seen by the entire world.”

Traditional rivals India and Pakistan are facing off in Dubai on Sunday, the first meeting between the two sides since the military conflict in May, when India launched strikes on terror infrastructure in Pakistan-controlled territories after 26 people were killed in the April 22 Pahalgam attack.

AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal said on X, “Playing a match with Pakistan is treason against the country and every Indian is very angry about it.” Senior party leader Manish Sisodia added, “Have the flames of Operation Sindoor cooled so quickly that cricket matches are being played with the same terrorists?”

Saurabh Bharadwaj reminded that, “When the BJP was in the opposition, it would always demand a boycott of cricket matches with Pakistan. But now, when they are in power, they are allowing a cricket match with Pakistan within a few months of the Pahalgam terror attack.” He also held an online meeting with all party Lok Sabha MPs, asking them to boycott the match.

AAP MP Sanjay Singh questioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s stance. “The Government of India said that the terrorists from Pakistan carried out the (Pahalgam) incident. Then Operation Sindoor happened. Our soldiers and the public lost their lives... It is PM Modi's statement that terror and trade cannot go together. Then how are blood and games going together?” he said while speaking to ANI.

On the other hand, Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya defended the match, stating, “When international matches are held and we want to continue as part of international tournaments, we have to be a part of it under compulsion. The country does not want to play against Pakistan very happily.”

Meanwhile, women workers of Shiv Sena (UBT) also staged a protest in Mumbai and Jammu with ‘sindoor’, opposing India’s participation in the Asia Cup clash against Pakistan.

The high-voltage contest is being played at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in India’s second Group A fixture. Both teams entered the match after convincing wins in their respective openers.
