The Noida International Airport in Jewar is set to be inaugurated on March 28, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath informed on Wednesday. Speaking at an event, UP CM said that the state government has invited Prime Minister Narendra Modi to inaugurate the "largest airport in the country" on Saturday, March 28.
Speaking on the occasion of completion of 9 years of his government in UP, CM Adityanath said, "We have requested honourable Prime Minister for inauguration of Noida International Airport on 28th March. This airport will contribute Rs 1 lakh crores to state’s economy."
Earlier on March 6, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation issued the aerodrome licence for the Jewar airport, clearing the last regulatory hurdle ahead of the start of flight operations.

The licence was granted under civil aviation rules which allows domestic passenger flights and cargo operations at the airport.
NIAL’s nodal officer Shailendra Bhatia had said the that remaining deployment and operational arrangements are expected to be completed soon, adding that the airport infrastructure is now ready.
The greenfield airport at Jewar on the outskirts of Noida is being developed under a public-private partnership model, and once fully operational, it is expected to become one of the largest airports in India.
The first phase of the project spans about 1,300 hectares and includes one runway and a terminal building capable of handling around 1.2 crore passengers annually, officials said.
Passenger services at the airport were originally scheduled to begin in September 2024.
