Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday launched a scathing attack on the critics of Maha Kumbh in the state assembly and defended the government's handling of the religious gathering.
In a post on X, Yogi quipped that someone has rightly said that whatever one searched for in Maha Kumbh, ended up finding it.
"The vultures found only the dead body ... the pigs found filth ... sensitive people got a beautiful picture of relationships ... the faithful received virtue ... the gentlemen got gentlemanliness and the devotees found God," Yogi said.

He also posted a clip of his speech in the Uttar Pradesh assembly in which he slammed the erstwhile Samajwadi Party government over mismanagement during the Maha Kumbh in 2013 under their rule.
" ... those who couldn't accomplish anything themselves. Those under whom the event became a victim of mismanagement and corruption are now commenting on Maha Kumbh and playing with the sentiments of the people," Yogi said.
Yogi asserted that Maha Kumbh has given a signal of India's "sanatana ekta (unity)" to the world and promoted PM Modi's vision of "Ek Bharat, Shreshta Bharat".
Rejecting allegations of caste-based restrictions at the Maha Kumbh, Yogi said that all people were welcome as long as they came with good intentions. "No caste was stopped. But those who go with bad intentions and try to create chaos will face consequences," he said.
He was responding to the criticism by opposition, particularly the Samajwadi Party, over the BJP government's handling of the Maha Kumbh in the wake of a stampeded which claimed 18 lives.
The chief minister said that his government did not toy with the faith of the people and slammed Akhilesh Yadav for not evening sparing time to review preparations for the Maha Kumbh during his tenure.
He also said that Akhilesh appointed a "non-Sanatani" as in charge of Maha Kumbh, referring to SP leader Azam Khan who was tasked with overseeing the preparedness in 2013.
