India’s Ambassador to Russia, Vinay Kumar, said the all-party delegation visiting Moscow and four other countries aims to “apprise the global community” of India’s fight against terrorism, ANI reported.
Kumar said the outreach is meant to raise “serious concerns about the escalation that Pakistan did by launching a terror attack, which was among the worst ones of its kind.” He added, “The purpose of the visit is to apprise the global community, in this particular case, the Russian Federation, about India’s fight against terrorism.”
The delegation, led by DMK MP Kanimozhi, will meet Russian parliamentarians, foreign ministry officials, think tanks, academics, and the media. “It would be quite an active and busy two and a half days that this delegation would have in Moscow,” Kumar noted.
Highlighting long-standing ties between India and Russia in combating terrorism, he said, “In fact, the first joint working group on countering terrorism that was established by India with any country was with the Russian Federation in 2002.”
Kumar stressed that the visit is meant to “share the sentiments, share the recent developments, and seek the understanding of [the] Russian Federation, government, and opinion makers [on] the need for zero tolerance for terrorism in all its forms and manifestations.”
The delegation reflects India’s national consensus on countering cross-border terrorism and Pakistan’s efforts to incite social disharmony.
Their visit is part of the country’s diplomatic outreach following Operation Sindoor, a response to the Pahalgam terror attack, during which India carried out precision strikes on terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
Military action has been paused following a ceasefire understanding reached through contact between the DGMOs of both nations.
