US secretary of state Marco Rubio speaks with Pak army chief Asim Munir, asks for de-escalation

Rubio offered US assistance in starting constructive talks to avoid more conflict

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio spoke with Pakistani Army Chief Asim Munir earlier today, a statement said on on May 10. Rubio urged both India and Pakistan to "find ways" for de-escalation, the statement added.

"Secretary of State Marco Rubio spoke with Pakistani Army Chief Asim Munir earlier today. He continued to urge both parties to find ways to de-escalate and offered US assistance in starting constructive talks in order to avoid future conflicts," said US spokesperson Tammy Bruce.

The US has been asking both the countries to take steps for de-escalation. On Friday, White House said Rubio was in constant contact with the leaders of both the nations. "The President (Donald Trump) wants it to de-escalate as early as possible. Rubio is trying to bring this conflict to an end,” White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said during a press briefing.
