As part of the central government’s global diplomatic outreach initiative to combat terrorism post Operation Sindoor, multi-party delegations led by JD(U) MP Sanjay Jha and Shiv Sena MP Shrikant Shinde travelled to Japan and United Arab Emirates (UAE) respectively.

The delegations met the officials of the two countries and brought to the fore Pakistan’s decades-long policy of supporting and sponsoring terror outfits.

Shinde, while speaking to ANI on Thursday, said Jamal Mohammed Obaid Al Kaabi, Director-General of the National Media Office in Abu Dhabi affirmed that UAE will not support terror in any ways.

“We had a very fruitful meeting with the UAE counterparts. We met the chairman of the defence committee, Ali Rashid Al Nuaimi. We also had a meeting with the minister of tolerance, Sheikh Nahayan. I think UAE is standing shoulder to shoulder with full commitment with India against terrorism. The clear-cut message given by the UAE was - we stand against terrorism with India,” he said.

Besides Shinde, the delegation comprises Manan Kumar Mishra (BJP), Sasmit Patra (BJD), E T Mohammed Basheer (IUML), S S Ahluwalia (BJP), Atul Garg (BJP), Bansuri Swaraj (BJP), former diplomat Sujan R Chinoy, and India’s ambassador to the UAE Sunjay Sudhir.

Meanwhile, the delegation led by Jha met Japan’s Foreign Minister Takeshi Iwaya, who expressed strong support for India’s fight against terrorism.

The Japanese FM also called for punishing the perpetrators of terror activities as he reaffirmed commitment to combat terrorism in all forms.

The delegation led by Jha to Japan includes BJP MPs Aparajita Sarangi, Brijlal, Pradhan Barua and Hemang Joshi, Congress leader and former external affairs minister Salman Khurshid, TMC MP Abhishek Banerjee, CPI(M)'s John Brittas, and former ambassador Mohan Kumar.

India is sending seven multi-party delegations to 33 global capitals to reach out to the international community on Pakistan's designs and India's response to terror.

Tensions between India and Pakistan escalated after the Pahalgam attack, which claimed 26 lives.

India carried out precision strikes on terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir in the early hours of May 7, following which Pakistan attempted to attack Indian military bases on May 8, 9 and 10. The Indian side responded strongly to the Pakistani actions.

The on ground hostilities ended with an understanding on stopping the military actions following talks between the directors general of military operations of both sides on May 10.
