Two terrorists were killed by security forces as they foiled an infiltration bid along the Line of Control (LoC) in Gurez sector of Jammu and Kashmir's Bandipora district on Thursday.
"Based on intelligence provided by Jammu and Kashmir Police regarding likely infiltration attempt, a joint operation was launched by Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police in Gurez Sector," Army's Srinagar-based Chinar Corps said on X.
The encounter took place near Naushehra Naar under Operation Naushera Nar IV, where alert troops engaged with a group of infiltrators trying to cross into Indian territory. A brief exchange of fire ensued, resulting in the elimination of two terrorists.
"Troops responded with effective fire, neutralising two terrorists," the Army said, PTI reported.
Following the encounter, a search operation was launched in the surrounding area to rule out the presence of any additional infiltrators or suspicious activity.
The operation is in progress, Army added.
