The Strait of Hormuz is the single most important oil ‘artery’ in the world for oil flow.

Two Indian LPG carriers that were stranded in the Persian Gulf due to intense crossfire between Iran and Israel have now begun transiting the Strait of Hormuz, marking a cautious breakthrough in efforts to secure energy supply lines, according to a report by CNN-News18.

The vessels — Jag Vasant and Pine Gas — are expected to reach India soon after receiving clearance from Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), which had earlier advised ships to remain in holding positions until the security situation stabilised.

The Strait of Hormuz is the single most important oil "artery" in the world for oil flow.

According to Indian Navy insiders, the clearance came after backchannel coordination, even as tensions continue to simmer in the region. Officials told CNN-News18 that the IRGC is currently grappling with internal uncertainties following leadership disruptions, which have complicated decision-making processes on maritime movement.

The ships had been held back for several days amid intense shelling in the region, as escalating tensions between Iran and Israel disrupted maritime traffic through one of the world’s most critical energy chokepoints. Earlier, Iranian authorities had advised vessels to remain in designated holding areas until the security situation improved.

The safe passage of the two LPG carriers is being seen as a positive signal for other stranded vessels, with the government hopeful of further clearances in the coming days.

Officials also underlined that domestic production is being ramped up to cushion any prolonged disruption, as India looks to stabilise its LPG supply chain amid ongoing geopolitical volatility in the Gulf.

The two vessels are expected to reach Indian shores soon, marking a crucial step in restoring supply lines strained by the ongoing conflict.

US President Donald Trump on Monday cited former US President Ronald Reagan’s Cold War approach, writing “PEACE THROUGH STRENGTH, TO PUT IT MILDLY!!!" in a post on Truth Social.

Trump’s warning comes amid his 48-hour ultimatum to Iran to open the Strait of Hormuz.
