It is visible that all this is happening with the will of the government, and Mamata Banerjee will have to answer. She is crossing all limits in her vote bank politics," said Singh.

We are staunchly against violence: Congress MP Imran Masood
"We are staunchly against violence. This is not just a fight for the Muslims; this is a fight for the Constitution. They (BJP) have partly trampled the Constitution by bringing the Waqf Act because they couldn't change it by getting more than 400 seats... The Constitution protects us, so it is our duty to protect it. BJP breaks the law and order the most. Their goons are everywhere in West Bengal who protest and create a ruckus at someone else' religious site... BJP wants to destroy brotherhood in the country for their political benefit," said Masood.

India backs world's first global carbon tax on shipping
India, along with 62 other nations, has voted in favour of the first-ever global carbon tax on the shipping industry, approved by the United Nations’ shipping body. The decision was made at the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) headquarters in London after a week of tough negotiations.
The new policy, aimed at cutting greenhouse gas emissions from ships and encouraging the use of cleaner technologies, marks a historic move — the first global carbon tax targeting an entire industry.
Starting in 2028, ships will be required to either switch to low-emission fuels or pay a pollution fee.
The tax is expected to raise up to USD 40 billion by 2030. However, all proceeds will be used strictly within the shipping sector to reduce emissions and will not be directed toward climate initiatives in developing countries.

Tariff News Live: China retaliates again in Trump's trade war, prompting flight from US assets
Beijing increased its tariffs on U.S. imports to 125% on Friday, hitting back against President Donald Trump's decision to raise duties on Chinese goods and upping the stakes in a trade war that threatens to upend global supply chains.
The retaliation intensified global economic turmoil unleashed by Trump's tariffs. U.S. stocks ended a volatile week higher, but the safe haven of gold hit a record high during the session and benchmark U.S. 10-year government bond yields posted their biggest weekly increase since 2001 alongside a slump in the dollar, signaling a lack of confidence in America Inc.
One U.S. survey of consumers showed inflation fears have mounted to their highest since 1981, while financial institutions have been forecasting an ever greater risk of recession. (Reuters)
