Hooghly's Trinamool Congress MP Rachna Banerjee praised the Yogi Adityanath govt regarding arrangements and facilities made at Maha Kumbh this year amid Mamata Banerjee and several other TMC MPs criticising the government over the stampede deaths.

From toilets for crores of people to ensuring that no one drowns in water, she hailed the government authorities for arranging everything smoothly, local media reported.

A video of Banerjee taking a bath wearing saffron clothes has gone viral. Rachna said that she also performed tarpan for her ancestors at the Triveni Sangam, the reports added.

Meanwhile, speaking to reporters in Kolkata last week,  Abhishek Banerjee took a sharp dig at BJP for prioritising publicity over proper management at the gathering. "If this incident had happened in Ganga Sagar or any non-BJP-ruled state, they would have called for President's Rule. They have not even been able to confirm the death count till now. There are no proper arrangements for the poor, only for the VIPs visiting the mela." the Trinamool leader said.
