Former Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) member and senior lawyer Prashant Bhushan on Saturday tore into Arvind Kejriwal and said he was "largely responsible" for AAP's defeat in the Delhi Assembly elections.
Taking to X, Bhushan wrote, "Kejriwal is largely responsible for AAP’s Delhi debacle. A party formed for alternative politics which was supposed to be transparent, accountable & democratic was quickly transformed by Arvind into a supremo dominated, non transparent & corrupt party which didn’t pursue a Lokpal & removed its own Lokpal."

Further taking a 'sheesh mahal' swipe at the former CM, which is being touted as one of the reasons for AAP's poor performance, Bhushan said, "He built a 45 Cr sheesh mahal for himself & began travelling in luxury cars. He binned 33 detailed Policy reports of expert committees set up by AAP, saying that the party will adopt expedient policies when the time comes."
"He felt that politics could be done by bluster & propaganda. This is the beginning of the end of AAP," Prashant Bhushan said as he lashed out at Kejriwal.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) handed over a crushing defeat to AAP and ended its dream run, which was looking to win for the fourth consecutive term. BJP has so far won 47 of 70 seats while the AAP could only manage to win on 22 seats.
In the 2020 election, AAP had established its dominance and pulled off a stellar performance by winning 62 out of the 70 Assembly seats. BJP only won 8 seats. The tables have turned this time around.
The BJP rode to victory piggybacking on issues like 'sheesh mahal', a term coined by its leaders to dig into the issue of the renovation worth crores of the CM residence as well as the liquor scam, a case which saw AAP stalwarts, including Manish Sisodia and Kejriwal, going to jail.
