Amid the ongoing controversy regarding a BJP minister, Kunwar Vijay Shah's comments against Colonel Sofiya Qureshi, who is one of the female officers who briefed the nation on Operation Sindoor in the past few days, there has now been another controversy involving a Samajwadi Party leader talking about the caste of Wing Commander Vyomika Singh and Air Marshal AK Bharti.
The SP leader Ram Gopal Yadav stirred a controversy, saying that if the BJP knew about the caste of Wing Commander Vyomika Singh and Air Marshal AK Bharti, they would have "abused" them too.
Following Yadav's comments, BJP leaders hit out at them. Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak criticised Yadav and said, "The Samajwadi Party has displayed its low mentality and anti-woman thoughts by disrespecting her based on her caste. Ram Gopal Yadav's statement is shameful and condemnable."
"Disrespect to Wing Commander Vyomika Singh is not just to her but to the entire nation. Wing Commander Vyomika Singh is not just a name but a symbol of India's pride and women's empowerment," he added.
Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh Minister Baby Rani Maurya also hit out at Yadav for his remarks on the officer's caste. "I just want to say that be it Sofiya Qureshi or Vyomika Singh - they are the daughters of India and making comments related to their castes by Ram Gopal Yadav is condemnable. It's not a good thinking to divide the country based on caste and religion. They just want to gain politically. They'll not be getting Dalit votes by doing such politics," Maurya said.
Kunwar Vijay Shah is currently facing legal action for the distasteful comments that he made for Colonel Sofiya Querashi.
