BJP IT Cell head Amit Malviya on Friday mocked Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah for his decision to join the 'Vote Adhikaar Yatra' in Bihar, recalling how he had claimed vote fraud against the Congress party back in 1991.
"The irony is so thick you could cut it with a knife. Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is in Bihar for a ‘Vote Adhikar’ rally, marching with the same Congress he once accused of electoral fraud in the 1991 Koppal Lok Sabha polls against Basavraj Patil Anwari," Malviya said.
"Back then, he cried ‘vote chori’ because he lost on ballot papers. Today, Rahul Gandhi, the political dynast, is crying wolf about ‘electoral fraud’ only because the people of India have decisively thrown the Congress out of power through the democratic process and the unhackable EVMs. This isn’t about democracy; it is about a family business that has lost its relevance. The ‘Vote Adhikar’ rally is a masterclass in hypocrisy and a pathetic attempt to delegitimise the very democratic process that has shown them their true place," Malviya further said.
Siddharmaiah had earlier recalled the claim that he had made in 1991. "I contested parliamentary elections in 1991, I lost that elections. Let's keep that I lost the elections by malpractice. I filed a case through Advocate Ravi Varma. He is the one who drafted and fought the case without taking a penny," he said.
Currently, Rahul Gandhi has been undertaking the Vote Adhikar Yatra in Bihar. The 16-day yatra, which started on August 17 from Sasaram, will conclude on September 1 with a march in the Bihar capital.
Rahul Gandhi started the Yatra after claiming that the Election Commission had been engaged in "vote chori". He alleged large-scale manipulation in the 2024 Lok Sabha voter rolls.
