Families of the victims of the Pahalgam terror attack, which set off an intense conflict between India and Pakistan, have said New Delhi achieved what it set to do, thanking the government and the armed forces after the two countries on May 10 agreed to end the fighting.
Kunal Ganbote, son of Kaustubh Ganbote, who was among the 26 people shot at point blank range by terrorists in Pahalgam on April 22, said he was thankful to the army and the government for standing with them during a tough time.
"Whatever steps the government has taken, we are satisfied with them and we support that. The military action that the government took was a tribute (to those who lost their lives in Pahalgam)... We are trying to bring normalcy to our lives. We thank the people and military of India as they have been with us in this tough situation," Kunal was quoted as saying by ANI.

The nephew of Yatish Parmar, who too was gunned down in picturesque Baisaran, said he supported the government's action against Pakistan.
"PM Modi and our army took revenge by launching Operation Sindoor and we thank them for that. PM Modi should eliminate terrorism once and for all," he said.

After India launched Operation Sindoor, Aishanya, wife of late Shubham Dwivedi, had said, "The moment I read the name 'Operation Sindoor', I saw Shubham's photo and I was crying. With the name, the government has connected to us (the women whose husbands were killed in the Pahalgam attack) on a personal level. And on some level, we feel that this was revenge taken on our behalf."
Early on May 7, India hit terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir with drones and missiles. The strikes came two weeks the Pahalgam attack. Two of the terrorists involved in the worst attack against civilians in recent memory were Pakistani.
Pakistan launched a series of attacks on India, which were thwarted. A series of strikes and counter-strikes followed, as Pakistan sent waves of drones and missiles along India’s northern and western frontier. Indian armed forces managed to repulse most of the attacks but towns and villages in border areas of Jammu and Kashmir faced heavy shelling, causing damage to life and property.
On May 10 evening, US President Donald Trump announced a “ceasefire” between India and Pakistan on a day of intense aerial warfare. Later India and Pakistan, too, confirmed the move to pause military conflict, which was increasingly looking like a war.
Pakistan hit India’s forward positions within hours of truce declaration and India responded. The morning has been calm, so far.
