The Telangana government on Sunday announced plans to name the upcoming greenfield radial road at the proposed Regional Ring Road (RRR) after the late industrialist Ratan Tata, honouring his legacy and contribution to India’s industry.
In a parallel move, a major stretch along the United States Consulate General in Hyderabad is set to be named ‘Donald Trump Avenue’, with the state government preparing to formally notify the Union Ministry of External Affairs and the US Embassy.
The naming proposals stem from Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s pitch at the US-India Strategic Partnership Forum (USISPF) earlier this year, where he highlighted the idea of acknowledging global corporations within Hyderabad’s urban map.
As part of this initiative, a key stretch adjoining Google’s upcoming campus—slated to be the company’s largest outside the United States—will be designated ‘Google Street’, recognising the global impact of Google and Google Maps.
The state’s innovation-focused roadmap will also see tech giants Microsoft and Wipro find a place in the city’s topography, with plans for ‘Microsoft Road’ and ‘Wipro Junction’. More roads may be named after distinguished individuals and companies as Telangana positions itself as a major centre for innovation-driven growth.
