In December 2024, the Congress government in Telangana led by Chief Minister Anumula Revanth Reddy, celebrated its first anniversary with much fanfare.

Over 64 % of people in Telangana chose farmhouse governance as their option in a poll conducted by the state unit of Congress asking X users which regime they preferred.

“What kind of governance do the people of Telangana want,” the Telangana unit of Congress posted on X. Calling itself a “people’s movement”, the Telangana Congress gave the following options: “A. Farmhouse governance” and “B. Prajala Vaddaku Palana”.

At the time of filing this report, over 62,000 people participated in the polling. Over 35 % chose B. The poll will close after two hours.

The state government recently said it would launch four welfare schemes, including “Rythu Bharosa”, an investment support scheme for farmers. The four schemes are election promises of ruling Congress which would be implemented in one village in every mandal (administrative unit) of the state to begin with, Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka told reporters.

In December 2024, the Congress government in Telangana led by Chief Minister Anumula Revanth Reddy, celebrated its first anniversary with much fanfare.

In the 10-day celebrations named Praja Palana Vijayotsavalu, which started on December 1, Congress leaders highlighted the government’s achievements, while dismissing criticism about undelivered promises and papering over the dissent against some big projects and land acquisition plans.

BRS working president K T Rama Rao recently requested the Telangana government to account for its failures in implementing its promises to the people. He particularly called them out for not paying Rythu Bharosa money to farmers as promised.

Rao recalled KCR’s warning the people ahead of the last Assembly elections that if the Congress came to power, all welfare schemes would be suspended. “His warning came true. A few days ahead of the recent Lok Sabha elections, the Congress government credited Rythu Bandhu once (as Rythu Bharsoa was rolled out), but it was with money that the previous BRS government had saved for payment to farmers,” said Rao at a protest organised at Nalgonda.
