Telangana Congress is facing internal turmoil after 10 of its MLAs held a secret meeting, causing concern among the leadership. The close-door discussion occurred at MLA Anirudh Reddy's farmhouse in Gandipet, on the outskirts of Hyderabad.
The MLAs reportedly came together to express their grievances about two ministers, who are accused of demanding bribes in exchange for clearing bills related to contractors' work. There has been a rising wave of discontent within the party, especially towards Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, the Minister of Information and Public Relations of Telangana, as per India Today reports.
Chief Minister Revanth Reddy is scheduled to meet with ministers at the Command Control Center to address the rising discontent, particularly regarding Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy. Realizing the importance of the situation, Ponguleti canceled his Palair tour to participate in the meeting.
In a stern directive, CM Revanth Reddy has ordered officials to avoid attending the 'secret' meeting, highlighting the seriousness of the matter. The party high command is worried that any defiance by MLAs ahead of the local body and MLC elections could send a negative signal to the public, reported India Today citing sources.
Additionally, the CM has instructed all ministers to strengthen their coordination with MLAs, prioritize their issues, and take their suggestions into consideration.
Telangana is getting ready for the local body and MLC elections. The elections for one graduates' and two teachers' MLC constituencies will take place on February 27, with the results expected to be announced on March 3.
