After Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) employee Manav Sharma was found hanging from a ceiling fan at his home in Agra, chats of his wife and sister have gone viral.

Sharma had blamed his wife Nikita Sharma’s alleged affair as the reason behind his tragic step. Nikita denied the allegations and said that Manav unjustly fixated on her past. She claimed that after discovering it, he became violent, engaged in self-harm, and turned to alcohol.

What did the Whatsapp chats reveal?

At around 2 am, Nikita messaged her sister-in-law Akansha, saying that Manav had been drunk and was not listening to her.

In response, Akansha replied, “It’s okay. Ignore. Sleep."

Nikita then said she had seen Manav sitting on a chair placed on the bed, with a piece of cloth wrapped around his neck and another tied to the fan. She had also warned Akansha that he had been under the influence and might take his own life.

Nikita pleaded with Akansha to talk to him, but Akansha said nothing would happen and urged her to “be strong" and “relax." “Nikky, please relax. Tujhe strong hona padega ab [You need to be strong now]," she said.

She also told Akansha that Manav was alone in his room while she was at her parents’ house, fearing he might do something drastic. When Akansha asked why she had left him alone, Nikita explained that her father was unwell, and she couldn’t share Manav’s condition with him.

Sharma (25) was found dead in his house in Agra on February 24, a day after returning from Mumbai. A Senior Process Associate at TCS, he reportedly had a history of self-harm. Sharma previously worked as a Talent Acquisition Specialist at various organisations.

Manav and Nikita got married in 2024 in Agra. Along with his wife, he returned to Mumbai in February 2025. He claimed that his marriage was a distressing experience and he had reasons to believe that Nikita was cheating on him.

Before hanging himself, he posted a nearly 7-minute video on social media. In the video he broke down while urging the society to “think and talk about men” as they are “lonely” due to the heightened societal expectations and pressures.

Sharma also held his uneven marriage responsible for his circumstance and found that this was the only solution he saw fit.
