Suspicious of extramarital affair, man stabs woman dozen times in front of daughter in broad daylight in Bengaluru

A man murdered his wife in Bengaluru after stabbing her multiple times in broad daylight - in front of her daughter, after suspecting that his wife was having an extramarital affair.

The victim has been identified as Rekha and she was at the Sunkadakatte bus stand along with her 12-year-old daughter when Lokesh, her husband, confronted her over the suspected affair.

The altercation between the couple, who had been married for just three months, started verbally but quickly took a heated turn when Lokesh pulled out a knife and stabbed Rekha mercilessly - at least a dozen times. Rekha suffered multiple injuries and bled profusely after the attack.

Reports said that the attack was not only the result of suspicion and jealousy from Lokesh's end but also conflict over Rekha's refusal to send her daughter from the first marriage away.

Police probe into the matter revealed that Rekha had called Lokesh from Sira to Bengaluru after their wedding and had helped him get a job as a driver. However, even after their marriage, Rekha and Lokesh continued to live separately.

Lokesh had, on multiple occasions, demanded that Rekha send her daughter away so that they could live together. But Rekha kept denying Lokesh's demand over and over again.

"Are you cheating on me? Are you cheating on me?" Lokesh asked Rekha, before pulling out a knife and stabbing her repeatedly in front of her daughter.

After the attack, bystanders and police rushed severely injured Rekha to a nearby hospital but she succumbed to her injuries. Lokesh, however, fled the scene after attacking Rekha and went towards KR Market, reports said. Police later launched a manhunt for Lokesh and he was later caught near Kamakshi.

He confessed to the crime and said that he was suspicious of Rekha and wanted her daughter to be sent away. A case of murder has been registered against him and probe in the matter is underway.
