Wife of the late Apple co-founder Steve Jobs, Laurene Powell Jobs will spend 17 days at the Mahakumbh 2025.

One of the largest and most sacred gatherings in Hinduism, known as Maha Kumbh Mela, which takes place every twelve years is set to begin on January 13, 2025. Millions of devotees are expected to take part in this auspicious event being held in Uttar Pradesh’s Prayagraj.

In 2025, many VIPs, VVIPs, millionaires, seers and saints will be taking part in the upcoming ‘Maha Kumbh’ on the bank of the ‘Sangam’ in Prayagraj.

According to various reports, Laurene, who was co-founder and former CEO of Apple, will also be observing ‘kalpavas’ at the Mahakumbh.

Notably, Kalpvas is an age-old practice in the Hindu tradition observed by devotees, referred to as Kalpvasis or Kalpwasis, for a month starting from Paush Purnima to Maghi Purnima. These ‘kalpavasis’ would take bath in the Ganga every day and visit the camps of different seers and saints to listen to the sermons and attend ‘bhajan and kirtan‘ during Kumbh.

Laurene is likely to arrive at the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj on January 13 and would be staying at the camp of Swami Kaliashananda, the ‘Mahamnadleshwar’ of Niranjani Akhara.

According to reports, she will be staying at the Mahakumbh till January 29. She is likely to take a holy dip during the fair.

Kalpvas: What do Kalpvasis do?

Mentioned in Mahabharata and Ramcharitmanas, this Hindu tradition involves self-purification and intense spiritual discipline. The time serves as a feeling of self-introspection and spiritual purification.

The rituals begin with devotees’ arrival at the Sangam where they set up their temporary tents leaving all the comforts behind. Another ritual performed by Kapvasis daily is the holy dip in the Sangam.
