Operations Sindoor and Mahadev have sent a strong warning to terror masterminds about the consequences of targeting Indian citizens, Home Minister Amit Shah said on Wednesday.
The Minister was addressing a gathering at the felicitation of the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and CRPF personnel for their successful execution of the dual missions.

“Operation Sindoor and Operation Mahadev have sent a clear message to the masterminds of terror about the consequences of playing with the lives of Indian citizens,” Shah said, addressing the security personnel.
He added that while Operation Sindoor had brought satisfaction among the people, Operation Mahadev had transformed that satisfaction into confidence.
The Union Minister also underscored that Operation Sindoor, conducted in May, targeted terror hideouts and military installations in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir in retaliation for the April 22 Pahalgam attack, which claimed 26 lives.
Operation Mahadev, meanwhile, carried out in July, eliminated the terrorists directly involved in the Pahalgam carnage.
“The armed forces have shown the world that no matter how many tactics or strategies terrorists may adopt, they can no longer hurt India and escape,” Shah said, praising the resolve of the security forces.
Additionally, referring to the timing of the April 22 Pahalgam attack, he said, “At a time when tourism was at its peak in Kashmir, the Pahalgam attack was a failed attempt to derail the 'Kashmir Mission'.”
The Home Minister also brought to focus the increasing role of the Jammu and Kashmir Police in counter-terrorism operations, alongside the Army and paramilitary forces.
“Whether from the ruling party or the opposition, everyone felt joy and enthusiasm about Operations Sindoor and Mahadev, and expressed gratitude towards the security forces,” Shah added.
Shah, citing findings from the National Investigation Agency’s forensic lab, confirmed that the terrorists neutralised during Operation Mahadev were the same individuals responsible for the Pahalgam massacre.
“On behalf of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the entire nation, I congratulate the security forces for strengthening the sense of security in the hearts of Indian citizens,” he concluded.
