Speeding Bolero rams into small truck, flips in air on Gorakhpur-Varanasi Highway | Watch

There was a brief disruption in vehicular movement along the Gorakhpur-Varanasi Highway after a speeding Bolero rammed into a small truck on an overbridge near the Majhgawan flyover. Police said that the accident happened around 6:15 am.

A CCTV footage that captured the clash later surfaced on social media and showed how the Bolero lost control moments before hitting the small truck.

The Bolero, as reported by media outlets, rammed right into a Tata Magic that was moving ahead of it. The clash was forceful and caused the Bolero to lift off the road, flip mid-air and roll before landing in an upright position. Reports said that the driver immediately ran off from the scene.

NDTV reported that the police were informed of the incident and reached the scene and seized both the vehicles.

Officials told NDTV that the goods that the Tata Magic was carrying spread across the road, which led to the slower-than-usual vehicular movement in the area, following which, debris was cleared off the road.

Authorities said an investigation is underway to determine what caused the Bolero to go out of control.

The crash comes days after a fatal road accident on the Ambernath flyover highlighted growing concerns around high-speed driving on elevated stretches.

Media reports said that four people died in that crash and four others were seriously injured when a car rammed into multiple motorcycles.

Police said the Tata Nexon that was involved in the Ambernath collision was registered in the name of local Shiv Sena leader Pramod Chaubey.

This wife Kiran Chaubey, who is also a Shiv Sena leader and municipal poll candidate, was in the vehicle at the time as she was headed for campaigning.

The Ambernath police said that the car was travelling at high speed when the driver lost control, moved into the wrong lane and eventually rammed into several motorcycles that came in its way.

The impact killed the driver and three riders, threw one motorcyclist off the flyover, and left others critically injured.
