The Election Commission has sought documentary evidence from Rahul Gandhi over his allegation of "vote chori", and said it is wrong to label all elections in India as 'chori' without evidence.
Rahul Gandhi has intensified his criticism of the poll body alleging that EC colluded with the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party to commit voter fraud in Karnataka and Maharashtra last year, and is preparing to do the same in Bihar later this year via the 'special intensive revision'.
Speaking to reporters outside Parliament Tuesday morning, Rahil said: "There are many seats... not just one or two... in which this was done. It is being done at a national level... systematically. The Election Commission knows this. Earlier there was no proof. Now there is..." "We are protecting the Constitution... the Election Commission is not doing its duty of 'one person, one vote'. Abhi picture baaki hai (there is more to come)," he said with a slight smile.
On Wednesday, the Bharatiya Janata Party launched a counterattack on the Congress party on Wednesday by claiming that the former Congress chief Sonia Gandhi had been illegally, though briefly, added to the voter list 45 years ago, before she was an Indian citizen. Former Union Minister Anurag Thakur claimed Gandhi—born Sonia Maino in Italy in 1946 — was added to the list from 1980 to 1982, a year before she became an Indian citizen.
