Samrat Choudhary accuses Lalu Yadav’s family of corruption, says Bihar knows they are 'here to loot and commit crimes'

Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary launched a sharp attack on RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav and his family, accusing them of corruption and nepotism.

“Lalu Prasad's family is known for corruption and theft; that is why I said that people of Bihar consider Lalu Prasad a thief only... When he became the Rail Minister of the country, he started taking land in exchange for a job. Bihar gave power to Lalu Prasad's family for 15 years, but only 94,000 people got government jobs. In the reign of Nitish Kumar, 18.5 lakh people got government jobs...," he said.

"That is why the people of Bihar know that on one hand, there is a government that delivers, a government that develops, a government that provides good roads... It is decided from the manifesto what they want, what its budget will be, and how its provision will be. Just by speaking, the people of Bihar will not understand. The people of Bihar have understood that Lalu Prasad's family is there to loot and to commit crimes," he said, as quoted by news agency ANI.

Choudhary’s remarks come amid rising political sparring between the ruling NDA and the opposition RJD ahead of the upcoming elections. Drawing a comparison between Nitish Kumar’s administration and the RJD’s previous tenure, the Deputy CM claimed that the current government has ensured large-scale employment and infrastructural development, while the earlier regime was marked by corruption and criminality.

Earlier, Choudhary had reacted to the Chief Minister's face announcement by Mahagathbandhan and called it a "shameful day for Democracy".

On RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav being announced as Mahagathbandhan's CM face, Choudhary said, "Lalu Yadav declared the CM face of Mahagathbandhan through hooliganism torturing Congress and other parties, just the way they spread jungle raaj in Bihar... Now, his son, a registered criminal, is envisioning himself as the CM, and this is a shameful day for democracy..."
