AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi on Tuesday attacked Pakistani Army Chief Asim Munir for his nuclear threats against India and called his remarks “condemnable”.
“What's unfortunate is that this is happening from the US, which is India's strategic partner. He is speaking like a 'sadakchaap admi'... We also need to understand that with the constant threat we will have from the Pakistani Army and their deep state, we will have to increase our defence budget so that we can stay prepared,” Owaisi told ANI.
According to him, the fact Munir threatened from the US soil made it worse. "It deserves a Political response from the Modi government & not just the MEA statement, Government must lodge their protest and raise the issue with US strongly," said the AIMIM chief.
Addressing the Pakistani diaspora in Florida's Tampa, Munir warned that if Islamabad faced an "existential threat" in a future conflict with India, it would be prepared to retaliate with catastrophic force.
"We are a nuclear nation. If we think we are going down, we'll take half the world down with us," he was quoted as saying.
According to the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) 2025 Yearbook, as of January, Pakistan's stockpile was estimated at around 170 nuclear warheads.
On Monday, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) responded to Munir's threat, saying India has already made it clear that it will not tolerate nuclear blackmail. "Nuclear sabre-rattling is Pakistan’s stock-in-trade," the MEA statement said.
