After Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar said that courts have started behaving like the Parliament and making laws, several opposition leaders have slammed him for his remarks.
Kapil Sibal took to X to share his disappointment over Dhankhar's remarks and said that he is both saddened and surprised. " If any institution is trusted throughout the country in today's time, it is the judiciary. When some government people do not like the decisions of the judiciary, they start accusing it of crossing its limits... Does he know that the Constitution has given the right of Article 142 to the Supreme Court to give complete justice?" Sibal wrote.
"The President is only a titular head... The President acts on the authority and advice of the cabinet. The President has no personal right of their own. Jagdeep Dhankhar should know this," his X post further said.

TMC leader Kalyan Banerjee called Dhankhar's comments objectionable. "As a constitutional authority, he is expected to uphold and respect other constitutional institutions and authorities, thereby honoring the spirit of the Constitution. However, the Vice President has repeatedly shown," Banerjee wrotye.
Dhankhar had said that the courts can't make laws and had pointed out that courts are now directing how the government should function. He had also said, "You can question the government in Parliament. But if courts start making executive decisions, who can question them? Who are they accountable to in elections?"
His comments came after the Supreme Court made a recent judgement on the powers of Governor and President in terms of passing laws. He had said that the courts are acting like "super Parliament".
