A man in Haryana's Rohtak killed his 29-year-old sister with an axe and then even called the police to report the crime.

The deceased, identified as Ritu, was reportedly suffering from mental health issues, which had been causing distress within the family. According to police, the shocking incident occurred near Kodi Ashram in Sanjay Colony around 6.30 pm on Monday.

The accused, Yogesh, who works at a clothing shop in Shauri Market, had returned home in the evening when he saw his sister holding an axe. The siblings had an argument and in a fit of anger, Yogesh allegedly grabbed the weapon and struck Ritu in the face. She collapsed on the spot and succumbed to her injuries.

However, after the murder, Yogesh immediately called the police control room and confessed to the crime. Soon, a police team along with forensic experts arrived at the scene.

While the deceased's body was sent for a post-mortem, Yogesh was taken into custody.

He told the police that Ritu had earlier attacked their mother with the same axe, after which she left the house. Upon returning home that evening, he had a heated argument with Ritu, resulting in the fatal attack. Police have initiated a detailed investigation into the case.
