A video showing Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy attempting wide passes to Argentine football icon Lionel Messi at Hyderabad’s Uppal Stadium has gone viral on social media, drawing widespread attention and reactions from users online.
Meanwhile, Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Sunday expressed gratitude to Argentine football legend Lionel Messi and his Inter Miami teammates Luis Suarez and Rodrigo de Paul for enthralling sports lovers, especially the youth, during the second leg of Messi’s GOAT India Tour 2025 in Hyderabad.
Revanth Reddy is now famous all over the world for all the wrong reasons. Was it so difficult to just be a politician and let some kids play with Messi?? And what is this commentary.... "Historic exchange between the Chief Minister and yeh Lezzend, what a moment it was."… pic.twitter.com/EHUIPR90Wf— Incognito (@Incognito_qfs) December 14, 2025
Messi’s programme at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on Saturday evening concluded smoothly, with the state government crediting meticulous planning, strong coordination and discipline for the successful event.
“I wholeheartedly thank G.O.A.T Lionel #Messi … football greats Luis Suarez and Rodrigo de Paul, for accepting our invitation and gracing our city of #Hyderabad and enthralling all our sports lovers, especially youth. We are deeply grateful to our leader Shri @RahulGandhi ji for joining us and making the evening a memory of a lifetime,” Reddy said in a post on X.

On behalf of the state government, Reddy further thanked sports lovers and fans for their disciplined conduct while hosting the global football stars.
The Argentine great drew a near-capacity crowd at the stadium, delighting fans with glimpses of the skills that have defined his storied career. Messi, along with Suarez and De Paul, participated in a GOAT Cup penalty shootout, conducted football clinics for children and interacted with fans before departing the venue.
Senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi joined the visiting footballers and the Chief Minister during the felicitation ceremony held towards the end of the event.
