In a move that will affect real estate developers in Uttar Pradesh, the state government has introduced new fees for housing projects. These include a development permit fee and a building permit fee, which must be paid to the housing development authority.
The state government on Tuesday notified the new urban planning and development rules, reported the Times of India. According to the rules, developers or companies planning housing projects will need to pay these fees when submitting their initial layout plans to the concerned authority.
The fees will vary based on the size of the project. For projects covering more than one hectare of land, the development permit fee will be Rs 10,000. If the project is between one and 2.5 hectares, it will be Rs 20,000.
Once the layout plan is approved, developers will also need to pay a building permit fee based on the total covered area of the project.
The rates are Rs 30 per square meter for commercial projects, Rs 15 for group housing, and Rs 5 for residential plots.
These new fees will be in addition to the existing charges already levied by authorities. The fees, classified as processing charges, are aimed at supporting and improving public infrastructure in the state.
Authorities across the state, including the vice chairmen of 29 development authorities, are already working to implement these new fees.
