A rare and unusual medical condition called "fetus in fetu" was detected during routine sonography of a pregnant woman in Maharashtra's Buldhana district.

This condition, where a parasitic twin forms inside its identical twin, was discovered in a 32-year-old woman who is nine months pregnant, according to the news agency ANI.

Dr Prasad Aggarwal, a gynaecologist and sonography specialist at the District Women's Hospital in Buldhana, said. "Two days ago, the woman came in for a routine check-up. During the sonography, we discovered that her unborn child was carrying another child inside it. This condition, which is extremely rare, had been missed in previous scans."

The embryo inside the unborn child was not developing in this case. The woman was later referred for specialized treatment to Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar.
