Defence Minister Rajnath Singh hailed Nari Shakti and confirmed that women pilots played crucial roles during Operation Sindoor.
"Nari Shakti played a crucial role in India’s effective action against terrorism during Operation Sindoor," Singh said, adding, "Women pilots and other female soldiers played a crucial role in the effective action taken by India against terrorism in Pakistan and PoK during Operation Sindoor.'
He also emphasised the fact that the participation of women in the Armed Forces has increased in recent years.
"From the heights of Siachen to the depths of the ocean, Indian women are fulfilling many responsibilities, which has further bolstered the security circle of the country. Today, the doors of Sainik Schools are open for girls and 17 women are passing out from the National Defence Academy this month. Ever since the participation of women in the Armed Forces has increased, they have performed exceptionally well in every role and fulfilled every responsibility," the Defence Minister said.
Singh also applauded Lieutenant Commanders Dilna K and Roopa A, the two women naval officers who recently returned from their successful voyage as part of ‘Navika Sagar Parikrama II’. He hailed their incredible determination, bravery, and perseverance throughout the landmark journey, calling it a shining example of nari shakti—the strength and empowerment of women.
The two officers, who participated in the second edition of the expedition, became the first from India to achieve success in double-handed mode. The officers covered a distance of 25,600 nautical miles over eight months with port calls at Fremantle (Australia), Lyttleton (New Zealand), Port Stanley (Falkland Islands) and Cape Town (South Africa).
Singh said that the warm welcome that the two officers received during their port calls has made the nation proud by waving the Tricolour around the entire world.
