As the sun set over the quiet town of Banswara, Rajasthan, a wave of unspeakable grief swept through its streets – grief that carried the weight of a shattered dream and an entire family's silence. The devastating Air India crash in Ahmedabad didn’t just claim lives; it robbed a hopeful family of their future and left a permanent scar on a community that had been waiting to celebrate a new beginning.
Among those killed in the tragic plane crash was Pratik Joshi – a father, husband and software professional who had made London his home for the last six years.
This week was meant to be the start of a new chapter. He was finally bringing his wife and three children to join him abroad, to give them the life he had worked tirelessly to build. But that long-awaited reunion turned into unimaginable loss, as the Dreamliner carrying them burst into flames just moments after takeoff.
Pratik was onboard the ill-fated Air India flight with his wife Dr Komi Vyas, who had tendered her resignation just two days ago to start a fresh life. Their three children, including five-year-old twin daughters, were accompanying them on the journey.

Locals remember the couple as ambitious and hardworking—both well-educated, dedicated to their careers, and deeply caring parents. News of their death shocked Banswara, leaving friends, relatives, and former colleagues in disbelief.
"The whole town is in mourning," News 18 quoted a close family friend as saying, describing them as a kind, forward-thinking couple who always wanted the best for their children.
The tragedy has plunged not just Banswara but all of Rajasthan into mourning, as more victims from the state were confirmed. Along with the Joshi family, four from Udaipur also died—siblings Shubh (24) and Shagun Modi (22), children of marble trader Pinku Modi, who were studying abroad.
Others who lost their lives include Vardi Chand and Prakash Menaria from Rundeda village, and 27-year-old Khushboo Rajpurohit from Balotra, known for her work in women’s education.
