Rainfall accompanied by gusty winds lashed parts of Delhi on Friday evening, bringing much-needed relief from the scorching heat.
Areas in central, south, and west Delhi saw evening showers, with India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicting light to moderate rain, thunderstorms, lightning, and winds reaching 30–40 kmph.
Despite the showers, the city recorded a high of 41°C—4.2 degrees above normal—while the minimum temperature stood at 25.6°C, also four notches above average. Humidity ranged between 35% and 57%.
For Saturday, the IMD forecasts a partly to generally cloudy sky, with the likelihood of very light rain or drizzle in the evening. Thunderstorms, lightning, and dust storms are also expected, with wind speeds between 40–50 kmph, gusting up to 60 kmph. Temperatures are predicted to range between 26°C (minimum) and 38°C (maximum).
Meanwhile, Delhi’s air quality remained in the “poor” category on Friday, with an AQI of 219, as per data from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).
