Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, who was admitted to Fortis Hospital in Mohali on Friday following complaints of exhaustion and a low heart rate, is showing good recovery, according to hospital authorities.
“His vitals are normal and he has been mobilised,” the hospital said in a statement on Sunday.
It added that Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is progressing well.
On Saturday, state minister Harpal Singh Cheema visited Mann at the hospital and later briefed the media about his health condition.
Cheema said that CM Bhagwant Mann is doing better on Saturday, but he has been advised by doctors to stay in the hospital for two to three days.
Cheema told ANI, "Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann was ill for the past two to three days, and he was hospitalised last night. We met him at the hospital, and he is currently fine. Doctors have advised him to stay in the hospital for 2-3 more days. He will provide compensation to the people affected by floods."
Several Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders, including Manish Sisodia, met with Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann in the hospital on Satuday.
Sisodia informed that Mann's health condition is stable, but he will remain under medical supervision for the next few days.
Speaking to reporters, Manish Sisodia said, "Punjab's Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has been unwell for the past few days due to an electrolyte imbalance."
As per the agency, Mann was initially was receiving treatment at home, but his condition worsened and his pulse rate dropped significantly on Friday, after which he had to be hospitalised.
The former Delhi deputy CM also said that despite being hospitalised, Mann remains concerned about the flood situation in the state. "Despite his hospitalisation, Mann remains concerned about the flood situation in Punjab. The Chief Minister said that he will hold meetings with officials while he is in hospital to provide relief to the people affected by floods," Sisodia said.
On Friday, the meeting of the Punjab cabinet, which was to be chaired by Mann, was postponed due to his illness.
The 51-year-old leader was brought to the hospital in the evening after he complained of exhaustion and low heart rate.
He was also unable to accompany AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal on a visit to flood-affected areas on Thursday.
Kejriwal visited Mann at his official residence on Thursday to enquire about his health.
About a year ago, he was treated for a bacterial infection at the same hospital.
