Puducherry Assembly polls: Congress, DMK reach accord on seat sharing

In the 2021 Assembly election, the Congress contested 14 seats and won two. The DMK contested 13 seats and won 6. The filing of nominations for the elections ended today. The scrutiny of nominations will begin from 24 March and the last date for withdrawal of candidates is 26 March.

The Congress and DMK on Monday reached an accord for the upcoming Assembly polls in the union territory, where the Congress will contest 16 seats. The DMK has been allotted the remaining 14 seats.

The DMK, from its kitty, will allocate seats to the INDI bloc constituents VCK and CPI. DMK delegate and Lok Sabha member S Jagathratchagan and Puducherry PCC president V Vaithilingam announced the seat-sharing agreement at a press conference here.

Single phase polling for 30 seats in the union territory is scheduled on April 9.
