The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) is set to complete some critical projects this year over recruitment and training of Agniveers. Once the DRDO is ready with it, the Armed Forces will adopt the project.
The DRDO is developing a basic test for the psycological assessment of Agniveers. It is also developing directed energy weapon systems to kill rogue drones.
According to an Indian Express report, a DIPR-developed psychometric test was tested on a trial basis for Agniveer aspirants last year at a recruitment rally. The Defence Institute of Psychological Research, which works under the DRDO, does research in psychology for armed forces personnel.
The Armed forces at present select Agniveers through a two-phase selection process, which includes an online written test in phase-1 and a physical fitness test, physical measurement test, adaptability test and medical examination in phase-2.
The DRDO also plans to develop standalone 1-km range Anti-drone High Power Microwave System to take out enemy drones and the maiden launch of the Long-Range Land Attack Cruise Missile for the IAF, the report said.
Plans are also underway for the maiden launch of a Long-Range Land Attack Cruise Missile, which will eventually be integrated into aerial, naval and land-based platforms, the report further said.
