Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh on March 30 to participate in a series of events, including laying foundation stones, inaugurating key projects, and addressing public gatherings. The visit aligns with his ongoing commitment to infrastructure development, sustainable livelihoods, and honoring cultural and historical milestones.
Maharashtra Visit
The Prime Minister’s day will begin in Nagpur, Maharashtra, at around 9 AM with a visit to Smruti Mandir for Darshan, coinciding with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh’s (RSS) Pratipada program marking the Hindu New Year, stated the press note. He will pay homage to the founding fathers of the RSS before proceeding to Deekshabhoomi, where he will honor B.R. Ambedkar, commemorating the site where Ambedkar embraced Buddhism with thousands of followers in 1956.
At approximately 10 AM, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone for the Madhav Netralaya Premium Centre, an extension of the Madhav Netralaya Eye Institute & Research Centre in Nagpur. Established in 2014 in memory of RSS leader Madhavrao Sadashivrao Golwalkar, the new 250-bed facility will include 14 outpatient departments (OPDs) and 14 modular operation theatres, aimed at providing affordable, world-class eye care services.
Later, at around 12:30 PM, the Prime Minister will inaugurate a Loitering Munition Testing Range and a 1250m-long, 25m-wide runway for Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) at Solar Defence and Aerospace Limited in Nagpur. This state-of-the-art facility will support testing of guided munitions, enhancing India’s defense capabilities.
Chhattisgarh Visit
Following his engagements in Maharashtra, the Prime Minister will travel to Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh, where he will dedicate, inaugurate, and lay the foundation stone for development projects worth over Rs 33,700 crore at around 3:30 PM. These projects span power, oil and gas, rail, road, education, and housing sectors, reflecting the government’s focus on holistic development.
In the power sector, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone for NTPC’s Sipat Super Thermal Power Project Stage-III (1x800MW), a Rs 9,790 crore initiative in Bilaspur district using ultra-supercritical technology for efficient power generation, the press note said. He will also kick off the construction of Chhattisgarh State Power Generation Company Limited’s (CSPGCL) First Super Critical Thermal Power Project (2x660MW), valued at over Rs 15,800 crore, and dedicate three POWERGRID transmission projects worth over Rs 560 crore under the Western Region Expansion Scheme.
To advance India’s net-zero emission goals, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone for Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd’s (BPCL) City Gas Distribution project across Korea, Surajpur, Balrampur, and Surguja districts, costing over Rs 1,285 crore. Additionally, he will initiate the Rs 2,210 crore Visakh-Raipur Pipeline Project by Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (HPCL), a 540 km multiproduct pipeline with a capacity of over 3 million metric tonnes per annum.
In the railway sector, seven new projects covering 108 km will have their foundation stones laid, while three completed projects spanning 111 km, worth over Rs 2,690 crore, will be dedicated to the nation. The Prime Minister will also flag off the MEMU train service on the Abhanpur-Raipur section via Mandir Hasaud and celebrate the 100% electrification of Chhattisgarh’s rail network.
Road infrastructure will see upgrades with the dedication of the Jhalmala-Sherpar section of NH-930 (37 km) and the Ambikapur-Pathalgaon section of NH-43 (75 km) to two-lane roads with paved shoulders. The foundation stone for the Kondagaon-Narayanpur section of NH-130D (47.5 km) will also be laid, with these projects collectively valued at over Rs 1,270 crore.
In education, the Prime Minister will dedicate 130 PM SHRI Schools across 29 districts and the Vidya Samiksha Kendra in Raipur, aimed at enhancing educational infrastructure and monitoring. Additionally, he will oversee the Griha Pravesh of 3 lakh beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Gramin (PMAY-G), handing over keys to some recipients to mark the milestone in rural housing.
