India on Tuesday hit back strongly at Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif after he accused “Indian-sponsored terror proxies” of carrying out the suicide attack outside a district court in Islamabad that killed at least 12 people and injured 27 others — without offering any proof.
Shehbaz Sharif also blamed India for a separate attack on a cadet college near the Afghanistan border, calling both incidents “the worst examples of Indian state terrorism in the region.” However, he provided no evidence to back his claims.
In a sharp response, India dismissed the allegations as “baseless and unfounded,” describing them as a “predictable tactic” by Pakistan to divert attention from its internal turmoil.
“India unequivocally rejects the baseless and unfounded allegations being made by an obviously delirious Pakistani leadership. It is a predictable tactic by Pakistan to concoct false narratives against India in order to deflect the attention of its own public from the ongoing military-inspired constitutional subversion and power-grab unfolding within the country,” Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said in a statement.

“The international community is well aware of the reality and will not be misled by Pakistan’s desperate diversionary ploys,” he added.
Notably, the Pakistani Taliban militant group claimed responsibility for the Islamabad attack, which occurred outside a district court in a residential area of the capital amid several international events, including the Inter-Parliamentary Speakers’ Conference.
For years, Pakistan has accused India of backing the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), even as it faces international criticism for providing safe havens to terrorists on its own soil.
Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, in a post on X, described the situation as a “state of war” and urged the country to treat the attack as a “wake-up call” regarding its dealings with Afghanistan.
“We are in a state of war. Anyone who thinks that the Pakistan Army is fighting this war in the Afghan-Pakistan border region and the remote areas of Balochistan should take today’s suicide attack at the Islamabad district courts as a wake-up call: this is a war for all of Pakistan, in which the Pakistan Army is giving daily sacrifices and making the people feel secure,” he wrote.
Meanwhile, the Taliban administration in Kabul condemned the attacks, saying it “expresses its deep sorrow and condemnation.” A spokesman, however, did not comment on Pakistan’s allegations against Afghanistan.
In another incident near the Afghanistan border, a suicide vehicle rammed into the main entrance of a cadet college in Wana, killing three people before militants entered the facility, which is run by the military but educates civilians.
