Prime Minister Narendra Modi has once again emerged as the most popular democratic leader in the world, securing a 75% approval rating in the latest Global Leader Approval Ratings released by US-based business intelligence firm Morning Consult.

Modi topped the global chart ahead of newly elected South Korean President Lee Jae Myung, who came in second with 59% approval. The survey, conducted between July 4 and 10, 2025, tracks the public perception of democratic world leaders through rolling seven-day averages across multiple countries.

According to Morning Consult, three out of every four Indians surveyed expressed a positive opinion of Modi’s leadership, while 18% disapproved and 7% were undecided.

US President Donald Trump, who returned to office last year, was ranked eighth with a 44% approval rating, well behind several of his global counterparts. Analysts suggest that recent policy moves, including trade and domestic decisions, may have impacted his standing.

The BJP and several ministers hailed Modi’s continued global popularity. Party IT cell head Amit Malviya shared a post on X, writing: “Loved by over a billion Indians and respected by millions across the globe, PM Narendra Modi tops the Morning Consult Global Leader Approval Tracker once again, the highest-rated and most trusted leader worldwide. Strong leadership. Global respect. Bharat is in safe hands.”

Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal also praised the Prime Minister’s leadership in a post that said: “Once again, Hon'ble PM Shri @narendramodi ji tops the Morning Consult Global Leader Approval Tracker, emerging as the world’s most trusted and highest-rated leader. Backed by over a billion Indians. Admired across continents.”

Modi, who began his third term as Prime Minister in June 2024, has consistently ranked high in Morning Consult's monthly approval tracker, which surveys thousands of adults daily across more than a dozen democracies.
