
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday welcomed French President Emmanuel Macron to India, and said he looked forward to further strengthening cooperation across sectors and advancing bilateral ties to new heights.
Taking to X, PM Modi said that he would see the French President in Mumbai and later in the national capital.
"Welcome to India! India looks forward to your visit and to advancing our bilateral ties to new heights. I am confident that our discussions will further strengthen cooperation across sectors and contribute to global progress. See you in Mumbai and later in Delhi, my dear friend @EmmanuelMacron,” the Prime Minister wrote.
PM Modi will on Tuesday travel to Mumbai to meet the French President, according to a statement by the Prime Minister’s Office.
Macron, accompanied by First Lady Brigitte Macron, is scheduled to hold talks with PM Modi on Tuesday. The discussions are expected to focus on strengthening cooperation in areas including defence, trade, technology, clean energy, and strategic partnerships.
Following engagements in Mumbai, the French President and the Prime Minister will travel to New Delhi to attend the India AI Impact Summit 2026.
Macron is on an official visit to India between February 17 and 19 at the invitation of PM Modi. This is the President’s fourth visit to India and his first visit to Mumbai.
“At around 3:15 pm on 17 February, the two leaders will hold bilateral engagements at Lok Bhavan, Mumbai. During these engagements, they will review the progress made in the India-France Strategic Partnership. Their discussions will focus on cementing the strategic partnership and further diversifying it into new and emerging areas. Prime Minister Modi and President Macron will also exchange views on issues of regional and global importance,” the statement by PMO said.
At around 5:15 pm, the two leaders will inaugurate the India-France Year of Innovation 2026 and address a gathering of business leaders, start-ups, researchers, and other innovators from both countries.
