Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday said that PM Modi was the first to institutionalized booth committees in Gujarat.
In an interview with Network18 Group Editor-in-Chief Rahul Joshi, Shah said PM Modi introduced the registration of party member in a register in a structured format and also the audit of the member.
"I used to carry the audit work at that time. PM Modi started the maintenance of records of party members. The evaluation was done based on the register who left the party, reason behind the decision, duration of the membership etc," Shah said. He said this showed us a structured way to carry out party-related work.
Home Minister Amit Shah on September 19 described the latest Goods and Services Tax (GST) reforms as one of the biggest economic changes in independent India, calling it a “multi-dimensional reform” and the first of its scale since independence.
Additionally, Shah said the sweeping tax cuts announced under GST 2.0 would bring relief across sectors while increasing public confidence in governance.
“Tax has never been lower.. GST reforms will benefit a lot of areas. It is a big step which has increased the confidence of people. If people pay tax and the tax base widens, then the government reduces tax to benefit people,” he said.
The Home Minister noted that more than 395 items have seen their GST rates reduced following buoyant revenue collections, with daily-use essentials brought down to either zero or five percent. “In some sectors, to boost exports, the GST was reduced. On sectors relating to health, employment, farming, GST was reduced,” he emphasised.
He further said that the people who bad-mouthed Prime Minister Narendra Modi's late mother will be punished by the public in the elections.
He said that the kind of language that is being used in politics by the Opposition is weakening the roots of the democratic system and that punishment should be served to such people.
His comments came days after a controversial AI-generated video mocking Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his late mother, Hiraben Modi, surfaced on social media.
