Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit his parliamentary constituency, Varanasi, on Saturday, to inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for a slew of development projects worth around Rs 2,200 crore. The initiatives span key sectors, including education, healthcare, infrastructure, sports, tourism, connectivity, urban development, and cultural heritage.
Taking to microblogging site X, PM Modi wrote, “For my family members in Kashi, tomorrow, August 2, is a very special day. Around 11 in the morning, I will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for several projects related to education, health, sports, tourism, and connectivity. On this occasion, I will also have the privilege of releasing the 20th installment of PM-KISAN.”
…— Narendra Modi (@narendramodi) August 1, 2025
According to official sources, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation for various works under the Smart Distribution Project and for the undergrounding of electrical infrastructure in the city.
These are aimed at modernising Varanasi's power supply system and enhancing civic services.
Given the VVIP movement, security has been tightened across the city, with a multi-layered deployment of personnel along PM Modi's travel routes.
The prime minister is also scheduled to address a public gathering at Banauli (Kalika Dham) village in the Sevapuri Assembly constituency, where thousands are expected to attend, later in the day.
