Prime Minister Narendra Modi will on April 30 chair a meeting of the cabinet committee on security (CCS), the second such huddle following the Phalagam terrors strike, which left 26 people, most of the tourists, dead.

The meeting, expected at 11 am, comes amid growing tensions with Pakistan after India decided to put the Indus Waters Treaty in abeyance, described as an “act of war” by the neighbouring country, shut down border crossings and blocked some YouTube channels and X handles.

Defence minister Rajnath Singh, home minister Amit Shah, finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman and external affairs minister S Jaishankar are the other members of the CCS.

The CCS meeting will followed by that of the cabinet committee on economic affairs. A cabinet meeting is also planned for the morning, reports said.

The first CCS meeting was held on April 23 in the aftermath of the Baisaran Valley carnage. A series of unprecedented measures were announced against Pakistan. These included New Delhi announcing suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty, downgrading the diplomatic ties with Islamabad and revoking visas to Pakistani nationals under all 12 categories.

Meanwhile, Pakistani forces breached the ceasefire along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir for the fifth night in a row, extending the violations to the Akhnoor sector in Jammu district, an official confirmed on Tuesday.
