“On the way back from Sri Lanka a short while ago, was blessed to have a Darshan of the Ram Setu. And, as a divine coincidence, it happened at the same time as the Surya Tilak was taking place in Ayodhya. Blessed to have the Darshan of both. Prabhu Shri Ram is a uniting force for all of us. May His blessings always remain upon us,” PM Modi wrote on X, along with an aerial view of his journey.

Notably, the Prime Minister, shortly after, inaugurated the Pamban sea bridge, India’s first vertical-lift railway sea bridge, providing a vital rail link between Rameswaram island and the mainland. The PM also flagged off the new Rameswaram–Tambaram (Chennai) train service and a Coast Guard ship, which passed beneath the newly constructed bridge in a symbolic gesture.
Built at a cost of over Rs 550 crore, the 2.08-kilometre-long engineering marvel features 99 spans and a 72.5-metre-long vertical lift span that can be raised up to 17 metres, enabling large vessels to pass through without disrupting train movement.
Designed with future expansion in mind, the bridge’s dual-track structure is supported by 333 piles and 101 piers, reinforced with stainless steel and polysiloxane paint to withstand the harsh marine environment.
The inauguration ceremony saw the presence of Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi, State Finance Minister Thangam Thennarasu, and other senior dignitaries.
PM Modi’s arrival in Tamil Nadu followed his official visit to Sri Lanka, after which he was given a warm welcome at the site by top BJP leaders, including Union MoS L Murugan, BJP state president K Annamalai, H Raja, and Vanathi Srinivasan.
