Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his 79th Independence Day address from the Red Fort on Friday, called the Indus Water Treaty a one-sided agreement that has allowed the enemy to irrigate their fields while depriving Indian farmers of water.

In his twelfth Independence Day speech, he also praised the armed forces for their role in Operation Sindoor, saying, “Our brave soldiers punished the enemy beyond imagination,” and hailed the unity of 140 crore Indians, describing the day as a festival of hope and aspirations.
