Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be visiting Bihar and West Bengal on August 22. During this day-long visit, he will unveil a series of major infrastructure and development projects.
In the morning, the Prime Minister will reach Gaya in Bihar, where he is scheduled to dedicate and launch initiatives worth nearly Rs 13,000 crore.
His programme will include the inauguration of significant projects, the flagging off of two new train services, and an address to the people gathered at the venue.
Later, he will formally inaugurate the much-awaited Aunta–Simaria bridge across the Ganga, a project expected to significantly ease connectivity in the state.
By the afternoon, Modi will travel to Kolkata to participate in a metro expansion milestone. At 4:15 PM, he will inaugurate newly built stretches of the metro network, followed by a symbolic ride from Jessore Road Metro Station to Jai Hind Bimanbandar and back.
The Prime Minister will also launch and dedicate projects valued at over Rs 5,200 crore for the city and is slated to address a public gathering there.
The political backdrop adds weight to Modi’s Bihar stop. With the state headed for assembly elections later this year, Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary has underscored the significance of the visit. Having recently inspected the preparations in Gaya, Choudhary announced that Modi would be gifting Bihar its first six-lane bridge over the Ganga alongside development works pegged at around Rs 1,200 crore. In a social media post, he invited people to participate in the event and hear the Prime Minister’s address.
Since April, Modi has been actively touring Bihar, having visited Motihari, Siwan, Madhubani, and Patna, signaling the state’s prominence on his development and political agenda.
